TRIANGULATION | Fabricating curved surfaces using cardboard

Our aim with this project was to find the optimal way to triangulate cardboard, using Rhinoscript, in order to fit the curved surfaces of the caravan as closely as possible, while at the same time obtaining an aesthetic result. The script creates a random point on a given surface, checks the surface curvature at that point and creates a sphere with a radius that is inversely proportional to the curvature. The next (random) point cannot be placed within the existing sphere. As a result, a point cloud is created on the surface, with more points at the highly curved areas. The resulting triangulation therefore approximates the surface curvature with great accuracy.
