Module 04: DESIGN TO FABRICATION II: 3D PRINTING
tool: eclipse, rhinoscript, rhino3D, mx studio & 3D printer

[ Student Pages ] [ Jasmin Zarali ]

built examples based on the script done with eclipse, the script already started to develope in module 03 and had been finished in module 04- the outer cube consists of 8 vertexnodes, from each vertexnode edges grow and connect the closest nodes- the first index of the vertexnodes are connected through edges to draw a second cube, the second index of the vertexnodes draws a third cube through edges and continous until the last index (cubeA)- in order to have the "cube-sculpture" more readable a function is added, that pulls the growing edges until they have a certain length (cubeB)

research on different connections and materials

the files of eclipse had been exported in dxf-format to import them into rhino3D, a rhinoscript selects every node and connected edge and draws a sphere and a tube around them- through user-input the numbers for the connections are added
cube 0- cube 3

cube 4- cube 6- all cubes- detail connections

cube A

cube B

the connections were printed in a 3D- printer, the edges were measured and posed on xy-plane through a second Rhinoscript, after having the edges cutted and the connections printed- the work for assembling started....

cube A

cube B

prototype, cube A, cube B
